with Tom Hambridge, Susan Cattaneo, Bonnie Hayes, David Johnston

Behind every great song is a great songwriter. In many cases, from The Temptations to The Monkees, brilliant writers often take a back seat while dynamic performers bring their works to life. In Redstar Union’s new eventThe Song: Songwriters Behind the Stars, we celebrate the achievements of a panel of songwriters and give them a forum to perform their own tunes. Hosted by Ducky Carlisle, the legendary Boston producer and recording engineer for artists like Buddy Guy, this first installment of The Song showcases four different and talented writers. The lineup includesBonnie Hayes, who started as a Slash recording artist in the ‘80s and has written songs for Cher, Bonnie Raitt, and Adam Ant among others. Bonnie will be joined by Susan Cattaneo, who in addition to charting on country radio in the US, Europe and Asia, has spent over as decade teaching songwriting at Berklee and has penned songs for rising stars in Nashville like Erica Nicole and Jillian Carderelli. David Johnston: a longtime Harvard Square busker whose song “I Don’t Want To Know” was recently covered on Peter Wolf’s newest record, Midnight Souvenirs, kicks off the night, and bringing it all back home as the headliner is Tom Hambridge, a Grammy-winning producer, drummer, and writer for legends such as ZZ Top, Rascal Flatts, Susan Tedeschi & Meat Loaf. You may have missed their names in the liner notes, but don’t miss their moment in the sun!
